Kenya Coast Polytechnic Students Assossiation (KECOPSA) leadership journey begins once again at Kenya Coast National Polytechnic.

The Dean of Students has officially released the KECOPSA Elections Timelines for the year 2025. Students aspiring to lead have a golden opportunity to step up and represent their peers.

Here’s a comprehensive breakdown of the key dates, requirements, and what to expect throughout this democratic process.

Key Election Dates & Activities

20th May 2025 – Application Invitation

All interested students can begin submitting their applications. However, there are important eligibility conditions:

– Applicants must not be scheduled to sit final exams earlier than Nov/Dec 2025.

– Continuing students need at least a PASS in their last exam module.

– First-year students should present their latest internal exam report showing a minimum of a PASS.

– National Youth Service (NYS) sponsored trainees are not eligible to apply.

– Submit applications to the Elections Committee at Chandaria Hall (4:00pm-5:15pm) through Ms. Khadija Ramadhan.

26th – 30th May 2025 – Application Submission

Applications will be received during this period. The Chair of the Elections Committee will officially close the application window on 30th May at 12:00 noon.

4th – 10th June 2025 – Nomination Results

The Election Committee (EC) will review applications, conduct vetting, and announce the list of successful candidates.

11th – 12th June 2025 – Nomination Appeals

Candidates who wish to contest the nomination results must submit their appeals to the Elections Chair by 5:00pm on 12th June.

13th – 16th June 2025 – Appeal Review

The EC will process appeals and publish the final list of nominees on the official notice board.

17th – 24th June 2025 – Campaign Period

Campaigns will officially begin, with candidates allowed to promote their manifestos from 5:00pm daily. However:

(!) No posters are allowed on walls, gates, or trash bins.

25th June 2025 – Presidential Debate

All eyes will be on the presidential candidates as they go head-to-head in a live debate from 4:00pm at Chandaria Hall.

27th June 2025 – Voting Day

This is the big day! Elections will take place from 8:00am to 2:30pm at Chandaria Hall under the supervision of IEBC. Results will be announced immediately afterward, followed by the official petition notice.

2nd July 2025 – Petition Closure

Any election petitions must be submitted by this date. After that, no further complaints will be entertained.

3rd July 2025 – Swearing-In Ceremony

Elected leaders will take their oath of office, marking the beginning of their term. The handing-over process is expected to be completed within the week.

3rd – 6th July 2025 – Leadership Induction

The new KECOPSA leadership will undergo a retreat and training session organized by the Dean’s Office, preparing them for their responsibilities ahead.
